Study Case 1 : Apple - Merging Technology, Business and Entertainment
Questions :
a) Explain how Apple achieve business success through the use of information, information technology and people.
1. Information : Apple uses information from the people - consumers and users to create its products. All of its products are made from the ideas of the consumers, not of Apple's employees.
2. Information technology : Apple has been using information technology to enhance its products. For example, Apple's latest offering is iCloud. iCloud has the ability to collect all of the content, including videos, photos, songs, books etc., from customer devices such as iPods, iPads and iPhones in one secure location in the 'cloud'. Apple customers no longer have to worry about backing up their applications or data because everything is automatically uploaded and stored in the iCloud when using an Apple device.
3. People - When most of Apple products need accessories, it does not waste time by developing these accessories. Instead, Apple takes up the accessories developed by other people and made for Apple products. For example, John Lin has created a prototype of a remote control for the iPod and Apple accepted it.
